تكمن أهمية وضرورة هذه البرمجية في عملية البحث العلمي كونها تقوم بكشف السرقات العلمية، حيث تعمل هذه البرمجية كرادع ضد الانتحال والسرقات العلمية، كما تقوم بتوفير التقارير التي يمكن أن تساعد في تحديد حالات السرقة العلمية، وتزويد الطلاب وأساتذتهم بأداة لتحديد وتصحيح حالات الانتحال المحتملة في عملهم، وكذلك تحسين الكتابة الأكاديمية في مقالاتهم.
